The Nurse Manager is empowered and accountable for taking all reasonable steps to ensure that staff promotes and delivers a level of care that meets or exceeds our residents' expectations.
The Nurse Manager will direct and coordinate the care delivery so as to assure that all resident healthcare needs, including social and emotional needs, are met utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the missions of the organization, the mission of Mercy Community Health and our core values in daily work activities.
Manages the nursing unit in order to provide quality resident care and effective utilization of resources.
Understands and participates in the development and implementation of policies and Procedures.
Assists in the effective implementation of the policies and procedures.
Serves as resource person for staff nurses and CNA's regarding resident care.
Works with primary physician and consulting psychiatric services to provide residents with an individualized approach to their unique care needs.
In concert with the Social Worker, provides family support, education and care participation as indicated.
Oversees and coordinates resident care and assures that professional nursing is practiced in accordance with established standards of gerontological nursing practices.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.
Education - Graduate of a state accredited hospital or collegiate nursing program.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.
2.
Registered professional nurse currently licensed in the State of Connecticut.
3.
Experience - Requires knowledge of nursing process to implement individual care plans and awareness/familiarity of current medical/nursing trends and practices.
4.
Equipment - Resident related within the scope and license of nursing.
5.
Specialized Skills - Must have excellent assessment skills.
Must be familiar with OBRA and JCAHO requirements.
Experience in interdisciplinary care planning conferences beneficial.
Must possess good leadership and interpersonal skills and be able to interact with staff, family, residents and other disciplines involved in resident care.
6.
Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
